Multi-store is an ecommerce capability where a single account operates multiple distinct storefronts — each with its own catalog, theme, domain, locales, and SEO settings — under unified administration.
Different platforms implement multi-store with varying flexibility:
- Ordiko: unlimited stores per account on every plan; each store fully independent.
- Magento (Adobe Commerce): mature 3-tier model (websites → stores → store views) with optional shared catalogs.
- BigCommerce: up to 5 storefronts on Pro plan, more on Enterprise.
- Shopify: native multi-store requires Shopify Plus (~$2,000+/mo); standard plans are single-store.
- WooCommerce: WordPress Multisite is the technical path, complex to operate.
- Wix, Squarespace, Shopify Basic: no multi-store; separate accounts required per store.
Common use cases: multi-brand retailers, regional storefronts (one per country with locale-specific catalogs), B2B + DTC split, white-label storefronts. The cost-per-store economics differ dramatically between platforms; Ordiko's flat-fee unlimited-stores model is unusual.
